UAE Ranks Among World’s Top 10 Governments in 2026 Chandler Index

The UAE has ranked among the world’s top 10 most efficient and effective governments in the 2026 Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI), establishing its position as one of the leading global models for modern governance. The index, which assesses government effectiveness across 133 countries, highlighted the UAE’s strengths in innovation, institutional agility and long-term strategic planning.

The ranking represents continued progress under the UAE’s development framework, which is centered on policy flexibility, future readiness, and operational efficiency. It also aligns with the country’s “We the UAE 2031” vision, which aims to strengthen economic competitiveness, quality of life, and global partnerships.

Key Insights:

Strong Performance Across Governance Metrics

The UAE ranked first globally in several key indicators, including government innovation, strategic priority-setting capability, flexibility in implementing plans and strategies, and budget surplus performance. The country also ranked second worldwide for government services satisfaction, adaptability and employment indicators.

In addition, the UAE secured third place globally for long-term vision and institutional coordination, underscoring the government’s focus on integrated policymaking and long-term planning. The latest results lead to continued strength in the UAE’s governance model, particularly in areas linked to service delivery, economic management and institutional responsiveness.

Leadership Focused on Agility and Future Readiness

Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said “The UAE has succeeded in redefining the concept of government work globally through a model based on speed of achievement, efficiency of performance and constant readiness and flexibility in decision-making and development.”

He added that the country’s leadership “did not settle for building a traditional government that manages the present, but rather built a government that shapes the future, develops opportunities, anticipates changes and transforms global challenges into new pathways for growth and development.”

Al Gergawi also said the rankings reflect the UAE’s emergence as “one of the world’s most efficient, agile and effective governments,” attributing the performance to long-term investment in people, innovation and institutional excellence.

Governance Model Supports Economic Positioning

The UAE said its standing in the CGGI speaks to the success of an integrated government ecosystem combining policy efficiency, economic attractiveness and investment in human capital. Authorities also linked the performance to the country’s broader ambition to position itself as a global hub for future-focused industries and international collaboration.

While global economic conditions remain uneven and governments face more selective investment and growth conditions, the UAE continues to demonstrate resilience across key governance and competitiveness indicators. The latest rankings affirm the country’s ability to maintain institutional stability while adapting to changing global dynamics.
