Dubai Announces AED 34bn Metro Gold Line to Connect 55 Developments by 2032

Dubai will develop a new 42-kilometre metro line at a cost of AED 34 billion, marking the largest transport infrastructure project in the emirate’s history. Announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Gold Line will pass through 15 strategic districts, serve approximately 1.5 million residents, and connect 55 major real estate developments currently under construction. The project is scheduled for completion on September 9, 2032, and is expected to expand the Dubai Metro network by 25%.

Key Insights:

Strategic Infrastructure Expansion

The Gold Line forms a central component of Dubai’s long-term urban development strategy, aimed at supporting population growth and improving connectivity across emerging residential and commercial zones. The expansion is expected to enhance accessibility to key development corridors, particularly where large-scale real estate projects are underway.

“Our landmark projects to position Dubai as the world’s best city to live in are on track,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. “The Gold Line project will cost AED 34 billion. It will increase the length of the Dubai Metro network by 25%, and is scheduled for completion on 9/9/2032.”

Real Estate Connectivity and Growth Support

By linking 55 major developments, the new line is positioned to play a significant role in unlocking value across Dubai’s expanding property landscape. Improved transport access is likely to support demand in newly emerging districts, particularly as developers continue to bring supply to market in line with population growth projections.

The scale and routing of the Gold Line indicate a focus on integrating infrastructure with ongoing real estate expansion, reinforcing the city’s approach to coordinated urban planning.

Long-Term Development Agenda

The project also feeds into wider infrastructure investment in Dubai, driving economic and population growth. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the forward-looking nature of the initiative, stating: “Our future endeavors will not stop; rather, they will accelerate. Our plan is to build a better future for millions of people. We stand by our words and deliver on them.”

While transaction activity in some segments of Dubai’s real estate market has shown signs of moderating following recent peaks, large-scale infrastructure commitments such as the Gold Line point to continued strength in long-term fundamentals, particularly in areas aligned with new transport corridors.
